Continuity Entails Stability...

Steve Lopes directs the day-to-day operations at the firm. A Trust Deed lending industry veteran with over thirty years of hands-on experience in helping brokers, borrowers and investors achieve their goals. Steve is the one person you can always count on to successfully guide you through the intricacies of a complex transaction.

Steve interned for his dad as a high schooler, and obtained the required real estate licensing while attending San Jose State University. He joined Liberty First Financial in 1977 and has never looked back. This year – Steve’s son Nicholas, now a high schooler himself, began his own internship hoping to continue the Lopes legacy that was established by his grandfather.

Outside his corporate responsibilities; Steve is a seasoned investor in his own right having completed in excess of 100 transactions for his own account. This experience allows him to empathize with the needs of both borrowers and investors alike.

Business Philosophy

“Planning is everything”

“Our firm’s skill is measured not by how we function during boom times, but rather how we consistently offer secure, competitive yields to our investor base as we navigate through difficult market conditions.”

“In the mortgage trade, Trust Deed lending is considered a specialty field. Proficiency requires an intimate knowledge of the market in which we lend, as well as a clear understanding of the potential legal ramifications that may apply to various types of real property collateral.”

"Finally; to move beyond the ability to deductively reason through all the quantitive information available from numerous resources; success in Trust Deed lending calls for an astute understanding of human nature.”
