Core Values That Are Shaped By Life Experiences...

Growing up in San Jose, CA during 1930’s and 40’s, Norm saw the Bay Area evolve from an agricultural community to a global center for technological innovation. After attending San Jose State University and serving a subsequent stint with the army in Korea; Norm joined the Mortgage division of the Equitable Life Assurance organization in 1958 and learned the real estate lending business from the ground up.

In 1968 Norm decided to branch out on his own and into the niche market of Private Money Trust Deed investments. In the mid 70’s Norm incorporated his firm under the name Norman V. Lopes Inc. and in 1983 the firm began doing business as Liberty First Financial.

Business Philosophy

“Whenever it comes to money, yours or your client’s; it’s always personal”

“Our core belief is that our clients should have the option of assuming a direct role in choosing the loan transaction they wish to invest in. Unlike stocks or bonds; real estate is a tangible asset. I personally make it a point to encourage each potential investor to see the real property collateral prior to making their investing decision. I do it myself before I invest. It just makes good sense.“

“As proof of our firm’s commitment and belief in any loan transaction we take on; our policy has always been to first fund the loan ourselves, fractionalize it, and then offer shares of that loan to our investor base. Without exception; every Trust Deed investment offered by Liberty First Financial has its servicing managed from inception to maturity by our firm.”
